Following the announcement of the Otam SD35 model late last year, the first yacht in the series, Gipsy, is nearly one-third complete.
The Otam SD35 bears styling and interior design by Design Studio Spadolini, with naval architecture from the yard’s in-house team and Umberto Tagliavini Marine Design & Services. The owner of Gipsy, an Italian national, has owned yachts previously and was attracted to the ability to tailor the design, both inside and outside. He commissioned her to enjoy fun with family and friends as well as to handle business entertaining. At 115’5” (35.2 meters) with a beam of 25’6” (7.8 meters), Gipsy devotes the main deck to a blend of both. There’s a nearly 430-square-foot (40-square-meter) saloon, plus a cinema and formal dining here. There’s also a sizable pantry, coming in at 269 square feet (25 square meters) off the galley on this deck.
For times when leisurely cruising will be enjoyed, Gipsy puts four staterooms at guests’ disposal below decks. As you’d expect, the crew have direct, discreet access to the staterooms from their area, which includes three cabins. The owner of Gipsy has the upper deck as a private paradise, including alfresco areas. This, too, was a key requirement.
Constructed entirely of aluminum, Gipsy should have a displacement of 295 gross tons, a large volume for her LOA. Whether cruising in shallow waters in popular regions like the United States and Caribbean, or deep-water ports closer to home, Gipsy should see a 1,000-nautical-mile range at 11 knots. Top end (under one-third load) should be 22 knots.
Here are a few more peeks at what Gipsy will look like.
