Come 2017, a European couple will be cruising aboard their Darwin 102. She’s the second member of the series from Cantiere delle Marche.
Boasting a volume of 244 gross registered tons, this Darwin 102 should feel more like a bigger boat, one easily 10 feet longer. Adding to this is the ceiling height. It’s just over seven feet (2.18 meters), as requested by the owners, at least one of whom is quite tall.
Several customized touches were requested, in fact. Befitting a globetrotter, the Darwin 102’s garage will contain abundant toys and transport craft. A dive center will be in here, too. The owners plan to make the most of the cruising experience. They also wanted a kitted-out gym. The goal was to keep up their regular fitness routines even when well away from shore.
The owners’ suite received a good deal of attention in the planning stages as well. Cantiere delle Marche says there’s a “highly original solution” in how the sleeping space, en suite bath, and dressing area all flow. (Drawings are not yet available.) The master suite and the rest of this Darwin 102 will reflect a cozy ambiance, featuring walnut, leather, and more. This includes the VIP, two guest staterooms, and captain’s cabin. The latter is abaft the wheelhouse. PFA & Partners is working with the owners and Cantiere delle Marche’s in-house project managers for the interior design and configuration.
With backup systems and overall engineering for continuous world cruising, the unnamed megayacht will join Acala as a member of the Darwin 102 family.
