Perhaps operating under the “keep it simple” principle, the owner of the second 460Exp from Sanlorenzo has given her a modest name: X.
The 138’5” (42.2-meter), semi-custom megayacht belongs to a Mexican client, who plans to take family and friends on voyages. The 460Exp series, a cross between a rugged explorer and a more traditional yacht, was conceived for remaining self-sufficient on long trips. Sanlorenzo says she can cruise for more than 4,000 nautical miles at 11 knots without refueling. This is possible thanks to her 13,209-gallon (50,000-liter) fuel tank and twin 1,300-hp Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines. Simultaneously, Sanlorenzo created the series to provide a more voluminous environment. Gross tonnage is 460 (hence the “460” in “460Exp”).
The owner of X plans as much on-deck alfresco fun as he does inside enjoyment. The sundeck, for example, is devoted to outdoor exercise. X also has an infinity pool on the aft deck. That pool additionally is fitted with jets, to create currents. When the watertoys are offloaded, the rest of the main deck gets devoted to sunning. (Sanlorenzo has not revealed what toys will be kept there. It is interesting to note, though, that the yard says a personal sub can be supported.)
Six staterooms cater to the owner and guests inside X, which also has a 30-foot (9.2-meter) beam. Dinnertime promises to be festive aboard, given the 14-seater tables in the main saloon and skylounge.
Sanlorenzo has sold a total of five 460Exp contracts since Moka, hull number one, premiered at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show. They’re set for delivery between next year and 2018. Buyers range from the United States to China.
