Later this year will see the third Continental Three megayacht make her way to the water outside of Van der Valk Continental Yachts.
The semi-custom Continental Three series measures 85 feet (26 meters). It bears naval architecture and interior design by the yard’s team. The mix of modern and traditional styling comes from Guido de Groot Design.
Like her predecessors, the new Continental Three megayacht (whose name is being withheld) is a raised-pilothouse project. She also has two crew cabins and four staterooms for the owners’ party, including a main-deck master. The owners of this particular yacht, though, wanted one of the guest staterooms to have two Pullmans. So, the full owners’ party totals 10. Teak is the dominant wood used throughout the 20’3” (6.2-meter) beam.
The owners also plan to cruise in areas with low bridges and/or other overhead structures. It was specifically important to ensure total vertical clearance from the Continental Three’s highest point was less than about 20 feet (6 meters). Van der Valk Continental Yachts and Guido de Groot Design created a lower-profile mast than previous model launches.
Wherever she goes, this Continental Three should impress her owners and guests with her performance. The yard anticipates a 20-knot cruise and 25-knot top end under MTU power. The open flying bridge will be a good place to experience these speeds, with seating, dining, and sunning areas. A wetbar will keep guests and even the captain refreshed, since there’s an extra helm station up here.
The Continental Three can devote the flying bridge primarily to relaxation because she has a tender garage. The hydraulic swim platform aids in the boat’s launching. When the tender is off the yacht, the garage can be a sort of beach club, too.
