“Section” is the key word in that headline. Earlier today, Lürssen floated out this rear portion of what will clearly be a super-size superyacht.
Sources tell us that the bow section has been under construction in another one of Lürssen’s build sheds. The two are expected to be welded together soon.
Unfortunately, because Lürssen is not permitted to discuss its current contracts, we do not have information on what length this project is set to be. Judging from the scale of the rear section, though, LOA should easily be upwards of 328 feet (100 meters). One of our sources thinks the massive megayacht could be 394 feet (120 meters). The yacht additionally should have six decks; the mast is not yet in place.
Yet another possibility: She’s the 367’5” (112-meter) project Palo Alto. Set for launch in 2018, project Palo Alto was announced in late 2014 by Moran Yacht & Ship. The brokerage house declined to comment for this story. If the megayacht is project Palo Alto, though, the owner is a longtime charter client of Moran Yacht & Ship. The buyer chartered several significant-size superyachts from the late 2000s through to commissioning the new build. That charter experience provided a good deal of insight into how to arrange guest and crew accommodations, even the engine package. A total of 11 guest staterooms join the massive master suite—an entire deck. Andrew Winch Designs is responsible for the styling and interior design of project Palo Alto.
