Two-month-long sea trials wrap up soon for Veda, the biggest expedition yacht to date from Bering Yachts.
A Bering 80, Veda is also the fourth of the builder’s Expedition Class series. “Expedition” is an appropriate word, too. Berings aren’t simply styled to look like rugged cruisers. Consider that a Bering 65 has cruised more than 10,000 nautical miles since delivery in 2012. Just like Veda, she has a steel hull.
With more than 12,885 gallons (48,775 liters) of fuel onboard, Veda can venture to a variety of far-flung places. Most efficient range comes at 9 knots: 6,000 nautical miles. Her twin 350-hp Cummins engines can also push her to a top speed of 12 knots.
Due to a healthy 25’8” (about 8-meter) beam and classic decor, the megayacht’s interior spaces should feel welcoming. The photo here shows the saloon and, just forward to port, the dining area. Eight guests, all accommodated below decks, can indulge in rooms outfitted in makore paneling. Marbles and granite complement the wood throughout. Some of the furnishings were hand-made for her, too.
Alfresco areas aboard expedition yachts are understandably smaller than they are aboard typical motoryachts. However, Veda still devotes her flying bridge to sunning and dining in the open air.
Veda is remaining at Bering Yachts’ Chinese facility (it has another in Turkey) through August. The builder has a variety of other expedition yachts in different stages of construction, too.
