Technically, Valencia is just shy of the definition of a superyacht, measuring 75 feet (23 meters). But, she stands apart as a highly customized yacht in a size range where choices are limited.
Part of the Flybridge series from Van der Valk, Valencia reflects her owner’s personality both outside and inside. In fact, he requested more contemporary curves for the superstructure. Some shipyards would be reluctant to extend this type of influence. Not this Dutch builder, though. “The owner is very pleased with the outcome, and so are we as a yard,” says Yoeri Bijker, Van der Valk’s marketing manager.
Even though Valencia will concentrate on the cool Baltic, a sunpad and several alfresco areas cater to dining and relaxing. There’s also a second helm on the flying bridge, with guest seating to both sides. When the yacht sets her anchor, the owner—who’s also her captain—can launch a PWC or dinghy, both stowed up here, too.
When the temperatures do get chilly, a classic nautical atmosphere awaits inside. Valencia features abundant cherrywood paneling with mahogany accents, with blue and white color schemes. The owner collaborated closely with Guido de Groot Design to arrange and outfit all areas, including the two guest staterooms below decks. One is a VIP, in the bow, while the other is a twin cabin to port. The master stateroom, also below decks, spans 18 feet (5.6 meters) wide. Because the owner is an owner-operator, he also has an emergency exit from his stateroom straight into the engine room.
When the owner is entertaining friends and family, the saloon is a good place to be. A large television accompanies a good-size, U-shape settee. That settee further extends out at the press of a button to become an even more generous lounging space.
