First-time Benetti buyers, along with their crew and the shipyard staff, watched as Seasense made her formal appearance outside of her build shed this week.
While the owners are new to Benetti, they’re not new to yacht ownership. There are, however, two notable firsts with their 220-footer (67-meter). For one, Seasense marks the first-time collaboration between the Italian yard’s in-house naval-architecture department and Cor D Rover Design. (We’ll have to wait for sea trial and/or delivery photos to get a sense of Rover’s impact on the styling.) The second “first” with Seasense also relates to design, although inside. The owners brought AREA, a Los Angeles-based design studio, in to work on the accommodations plan and decor.
No information is available at this time on the woods or other materials used throughout. However, Seasense does have six staterooms for the owners’ party of 12, along with accommodations for 14 crewmembers in nine cabins. Furthermore, she has a beam of 35’4” (10.8 meters).
Come delivery, set for the end of July, Seasense will treat guests to extra-spacious alfresco areas. As the megayacht’s name suggests, the owners were keen to feel connected to the great outdoors as much as possible. One way they plan to do so is via a long swimming pool situated on the aft deck. Naturally, a sunning space is adjacent. In a nice move, the sliding glass doors to the saloon can remain open, to make an even more enjoyable indoor-outdoor ambiance.
Benetti anticipates that the 1,130-ton-displacement megayacht will see a best range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. It’s thanks to conventional Caterpillar power and a traditional steel displacement hull. Due to the displacement design, draft is 10’5” (3.2 meters).
