Making her boat-show debut seven months from now, a trideck in build at Viking Yachts marks the shipyard’s increasing reach into megayacht territory. She’s the Viking 93 Motor Yacht, made as much for current Viking customers as she is for owners of other brands looking to step up.
The yacht is the largest of the three models thus far in the New Jersey builder’s Motor Yacht series, the others being a 75 and 82. At 93’5” (28.47 meters), she’s further bigger than the biggest battlewagon that the yard offers, that being a 92.
As you might expect from the length and traditional profile, the Viking 93 Motor Yacht is meant for customary long-range cruising. She accommodates an owner’s party of 10 and four crewmembers, all below decks. (On a side note, you’ll appreciate the heated soles in the master head on chilly mornings.) Wisely, the crew gets a separate galley and mess, for privacy. That’s not to say, however, that owners can’t enjoy a relaxed relationship with crew. In fact, the 93 Motor Yacht has a country kitchen on the main deck. Sunlight flowing in from the forward ports should make the atmosphere more welcoming, too, as should the 24’4” (7.41-meter) beam.
If owners want a more formal ambiance, the 93 Motor Yacht does have a table for eight in the aft dining area. Here, and in the saloon, you can select either teak or walnut paneling, executed by Viking’s own joiner shop. Either way, teak lies underfoot on the aft deck, where you get yet another place to dine, or enjoy cocktails. An L-shape bar is conveniently situated near the U-shape seating/table. Yet another bar sits one deck up, with a handful of barstools. Should the weather not be conducive to alfresco cocktails, it’s no problem. Head on into the skylounge, then stay and watch your favorite movie on the TV.
Viking completed a construction milestone for the 93 Motor Yacht just last month. It joined the deckhouse to the hull. The build is on pace for the megayacht to debut at the Fort Lauderdale show in November.
