Nearly a year and a half after construction started, Anemeli is approaching completion. The 89-foot (27-meter) megayacht launched this week at Van der Valk Shipyard.
The yacht is part of Van der Valk’s Continental Two series, which feature flying bridges. However, Anemeli does have some differences. She has a fast-displacement hull design, for example. (Other Van der Valks have featured this design, but none was a Continental Two.) The owner requested this hull, along with a bulbous bow. The two, penned by Ginton Naval Architects, combine to make Anemeli a more efficient cruiser. Although Van der Valk has not revealed the megayacht’s expected top and cruise speeds, it does note that her engine package is unusual. She has a pair of MAN 1900 V12 diesel engines. Introduced in late 2015, these powerful engines are making their first appearance in an all-aluminum megayacht with Anemeli. (She started construction in January 2016, so shortly after the engines’ release.)
With styling by Guido de Groot Design, Anemeli has quite a wide beam for her LOA, too. It’s 22 feet (6.72 meters). That should make the interior and on-deck relaxation spaces feel plenty comfortable. One such alfresco space is the foredeck seating and sunning spot. This was yet another request of the owner’s. The flying bridge, fully reserved for dining, cooking, and sunning, should particularly feel spacious, too. Yet again, it’s because the owner made yet another significant request. He wanted the tender situated at the stern. It sits on a platform that can launch it plus serve as a traditional swim platform. But, it also stows in the transom, which additionally houses other small toys.
Anemeli is set for delivery in time for the beginning of the summer cruising season. She meets Lloyds classification as well as MCA requirements for small commercial vessels (meaning small yachts that charter).
