Long voyages can come off your wish list and go on your official itinerary starting next month. That is, if you acquire the Explorer 25M that is for sale at Van der Valk.
Created for an owner’s party of eight, the megayacht is the second semi-custom Explorer from the Dutch builder. The first was Santa Maria T, delivered in 2015. She was somewhat larger, though, at 121 feet (37 meters). Regardless, the Explorer 25M, at 82 feet, has plenty of promising ability.
For example, Van der Valk says she’ll see nearly 3,100 nautical miles at 9 knots. Her twin 390-hp Caterpillars should burn just 8.9 gph (33.6 lph) at that same speed. Top speed is 13 knots. Just as noteworthy, the Explorer 25M has 3,370 gallons (12,760 liters) of fuel. When you add in the 5’9” (1.8-meter) draft, it’s safe to say you can explore plenty of shores while aboard.
And, that’s the reason that Van der Valk created the Explorer series, with Guido de Groot Design: to offer long-range motoryachts. Simultaneously, the yard is appealing to traditionalists who want a little more of a sporty style. It’s also appealing to those who like flexibility. The Explorer 25M that’s available has a fast-displacement aluminum hull form. Future buyers can opt for the same. Or, if they prefer, they can request a full-displacement steel hull.
Regardless, the Explorer 25M, as mentioned above, accommodates eight. All four staterooms are below decks, including the full-beam master. Beam, by the way, is 22’3” (6.8 meters). The three-person crew gets two cabins fully aft. If you have a somewhat relaxed relationship with your crew, you’ll like how the wheelhouse is partly open to the saloon. You’ll also like how two big C-shape settees create a cozy environment around the extra helm on the flying bridge. The flying bridge itself extends about 646 square feet (60 square meters), too, with a bar, dining area, barbecue, and tender stowage. For private time to yourselves, head to the bow, where you can chill out or toast to exploring more shores.
