Transatlantic as well as transpacific crossings are on the minds of the owners of a soon-to-deliver megayacht at Van der Valk Shipyard. Part of the Van der Valk Explorer series, Venera is in the outfitting shed, expecting hand over in summertime.
This third project in the Van der Valk Explorer series belongs to repeat customers. Measuring 93 feet (28.5 meters), with a 23’6” (7.2-meter) beam, the yacht moved into her completion shed earlier this week. Thankfully, Van der Valk Shipyard has remained operational during the coronavirus outbreak that is severely impacting other parts of the world. Regardless, the craftspeople and management team continues to follow health authorities’ guidance.
The owners of Venera made several special requests for their global cruiser. For instance, they wanted accommodations for eight guests. Therefore, two VIP staterooms and two twin cabins sit below decks, with their stateroom forward on the main deck. Because they like to feel more connected to the navigational operations, and certainly to enjoy good conversations with their captain, Venera has three pedestal chairs within the raised pilothouse. It’s an unusual arrangement, especially because you’d expect to find this setup instead on a flying bridge.
Along those same lines, the megayacht’s flying bridge actually doesn’t even have a helm. In fact, it’s completely reserved for relaxation. The owners and guests can choose to soak in a hot tub, surrounded by sunpads. They can enjoy meals up here, too, or simply gather together on the seating areas.
Speaking of gathering, Venera has a sauna just inside the transom, complemented by a pantry and minibar. If the yacht is in sunny and warm destinations, guests can take a dip off the swim platform and shower off on it before heading back inside.
This round-bilge motoryacht should top out at 20 knots under 1,650-hp MANs. Cruising speed should be 17 knots.
