A yacht owner is just shy of two months from taking delivery of his new Benetti. While the builder isn’t revealing her name, she is hull number two of the Mediterraneo 116.
Launch for the composite and carbon fiber megayacht took place on August 9. As you can see in the photo above, the owners christened their new “baby” in keeping with tradition.
In keeping with the series tradition, this new Mediterraneo 116 bears styling by Giorgio Maria Cassetta. The yacht is sporty, particularly where the hardtop is concerned. She also emphasizes light and bright interiors, thanks to the large length of windows running along each side. What sets her apart, though, is that she boasts more room than most megayachts of her size. Take a good look at her profile photo below, and you realize the Mediterraneo 116 is three decks high.
Since the series is semi-custom, Benetti’s own interiors department works hand in hand with the owners’ designer. No information has been released on the specific décor details for this new project. However, the layout follows customary requests. This means a combination saloon and dining area, along with a main-deck master stateroom. The master should be especially bright, considering the ports to each side span a little more than 11 feet long (3.4 meters long). That’s slightly larger than the ones aft in the saloon and dining area. Eight to 10 family and friends can stay below decks, with the total depending on whether the Pullman berths in the twin cabins are deployed.
The seven-person crew, meanwhile, has three cabins below, while the captain gets his own cabin in proximity to the wheelhouse.
Sea trials should see this 116 Mediterraneo achieve the same performance as hull number one, which her owner christened Oli. Top speed therefore should be 15 knots. Cruising speed should be just one knot slower. The best range should come at 10 knots: 3,000 nautical miles, under Caterpillar power.
