Meet the megayacht christened Oli, enjoying her first cruising season as hull number one of the Benetti Mediterraneo 116 series. Her owners took delivery within the past month.
The Mediterraneo 116 is part of Benetti’s semi-custom Class Displacement lineup. She measures 116’5” (35.5 meters), a size that suits many buyers stepping up into the megayacht realm. As part of the series, Oli reflects edgy styling that’s a departure for the Italian yard as well.
What isn’t a departure, though, is how Oli embodies big-boat thinking in terms of creature comforts. Nearly 10-foot-high (3-meter-high) panes of glass line each side of the main deck, for example. Sliding glass flanking the dining area allows the owners and guests to enjoy an alfresco feel. They can also step out onto the side decks, for a mini-balcony effect. Oli further positions the master stateroom forward on the main deck.
That frees up space below decks for accommodations for eight guests. The elongated rectangular ports visible in the photo above denote the staterooms. Benetti designed the Mediterraneo 116 to keep with the ongoing trends of bringing as much light as possible into all deck areas. The builder also designed the model to allow customers to personalize spaces. That includes the upper deck and foredeck, the latter of which can contain a hot tub. (We don’t yet have interior images of Oli.)
Benetti says that the Mediterraneo 116 series overall should achieve a 15-knot top speed and best range of 3,000 nautical miles at a slightly lower cruising speed. Twin 1,400-hp MANs provide propulsion.
Oli is set to debut at next month’s Cannes Yachting Festival. Meanwhile, Benetti continues building hulls two and three in the series.
