Astondoa celebrated a century in business last year. What better name, then, for its newest megayacht model than the 100 Century?
Having just debuted earlier this month at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the yacht shares styling with her larger sister. The 110 Century premiered last year. The difference, though, is that the 100 Century is for buyers who want big volumes without big expenses. For example, she can welcome 10 people in the owner’s family (or a mix of family and friends), attended to by four crewmembers. Much larger yachts tend to accommodate owners’ parties of that number. (The crew head count, though, is in keeping with the LOA.)
Whatever number ultimately stays, plays, and relaxes onboard, the 100 Century includes a main-deck master stateroom. As is common practice even among megayachts this size, the suite spans the 22’6” (6.9-meter) beam. The crew can still access the foredeck for docking and other tasks. Astondoa designed the bow to be higher than usual, with the foredeck just a few steps down from the wheelhouse. This way, the crew gets unimpeded access from fully aft to fully forward.
The guests get to use the forward areas, too. A good-size sunpad as well as a seating/dining spot are right on centerline. Crew walkways rim both areas.
The video here takes you onboard hull number one of the 100 Century series. The interior design, from Cristiano Gatto Design, has an attractive interplay between rich woods and white surfaces, including furnishings. (The shipyard builds the series on a semi-custom basis, so future customers need not follow the same décor.) You also get to see the megayacht underway. The Spanish shipyard says the 100 Century is capable of a top speed of 26 knots. Twin MTU diesel engines also allow a 22-knot cruising speed. The shallow draft, 5’9” (1.8 meters), makes accessing skinny waters simpler, too.
