One month after the Ferretti Group teased a new entry-level model in its Custom Line brand, we can give you in-depth details about that megayacht, the Custom Line 106.
The Ferretti Group made the announcement at the Miami Yacht Show (formerly Yachts Miami Beach). She’s part of Custom Line’s planing series of fiberglass projects. Those projects already include a 108 and 120.
Like the 120, she features styling by Francesco Paszkowski Design. Paszkowski says he particularly wanted to enhance enjoyment of cruising by reducing as many boundaries between interior areas and the great outdoors. That’s why, for example, one long hull window runs along the main deck. The same is true below decks. They’re wider, too: full height. Equally noteworthy, as an option, the Custom Line 106 can feature an electrically opening swath of glass to starboard in the saloon. Also as an option, you can request a balcony off the main-deck master stateroom. The stateroom spans the 21’3” (6.5-meter) beam as well.
Overall, the interior should feel voluminous. It’s because Ferretti Group’s in-house engineering department relocated equipment beneath the main-deck sole. Previously, and traditionally for many builders, some items remained concealed behind bulkheads. The engineering team says the shift allowed it to elevate the Custom Line 106’s superstructure and broaden the window areas.
Paszkowski and the Ferretti Group enhanced alfresco areas, too. For instance, the flying bridge measures 570 square feet (53 square meters). Fitted with a hardtop, it provides shade when wanted. Two skylights in the hardtop add nice touches. While you can dine or enjoy cocktails up here, you can do the same forward on the main deck.
Also, similar to other models, the Custom Line 106 has the Group’s Dual Mode Transom system. When cruising, the transom appears flush. At anchor, two hatches reveal stairs. In addition, the center of the swim platform can submerge, and the tender in the garage can float out. Maximum tender LOA: about 18 feet (5.45 meters). The garage can additionally hold a PWC.
Being a semi-custom model, the Custom Line 106 offers many ways to personalize the interior. The rendering above reveals the look that Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini envision for hull number one. You get accommodations for eight guests below decks, with optional Pullmans for bigger parties. Four crew and the captain all stay below deck, too.
As mentioned above, the Custom Line 106 is a planing yacht. Therefore, expect her to be capable of 23 knots at top speed with the standard MTUs. Higher horsepower MTUs should allow a 26-knot top end.
Look for the megayacht’s premiere later this year.
