Read on for our original article.
Looking as sleek as the denizen of the deep in her code name, Project Shark set off for sea trials this past weekend. She’s one of the most-anticipated deliveries of this year, seeing hand over from Oceanco. As you’ll see in the video below, the interplay between light and dark surfaces makes her distinctive, and distinctly different.
Also known as Oceanco Y717, Project Shark slipped into view for the first time in February. Only a few profile photos surfaced, unfortunately, including one from Oceanco. While those images provided some good looks at her profile, the sea-trial video is the first all-around view.
Just a handful of facts are public, although Oceanco does pledge to reveal more later on. LOA is 295 feet (90 meters), with a beam of 47 feet (14.2 meters). The shipyard also confirmed what yacht watchers had concluded: Styling is from Luiz de Basto Designs. Yacht watchers were convinced the Miami-based studio was responsible due to similarities with a previous design it did for Oceanco. From 2011, the design is a proposal known as DP009.
Project Shark shares the same striking color combination and contrast, for example. She additionally has full-height glass spanning her main deck. The glass is both to the sides and fully aft. Another noteworthy feature is what may be an observation area atop the wheelhouse. In a few scenes in the video, you get a pretty good look at it: a recessed, glass-fronted area. DP099 placed the owners’ suite here, interesting enough.
Oceanco has yet to reveal highlights of the megayacht’s interior arrangement. Therefore, the master suite’s true location remains unknown. Also unknown are how many guest staterooms are aboard Project Shark, as well as their locations. However, Oceanco does say that that Nuvolari-Lenard is handling interior design.
Judging from the sea trials’ timing, Oceanco appears to be on schedule with Project Shark. It anticipates delivering her before the summer season starts.
