We’ve heard of consumers taking a car for a spin. But a yacht—specifically, a megayacht? And one that isn’t a go-fast yacht? Despite this, the owner of the fifth Navetta 33 told Custom Line that he plans to “take it for a spin” around the Med the rest of the summer.
His good-natured comments came following launch day, earlier this month, at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, Italy. The owner, who hails from North America, has family cruising in mind for that spin. The Navetta 33 will host further family trips after she crosses the Atlantic this fall.
With a top speed around 15 to 16 knots, the Navetta 33 is made for long-range, leisurely cruising. Depending on the power package—three are available—she sees a range of 1,150 to 1,200 nautical miles. Custom Line has not indicated which engine this particular owner requested. Regardless, the all-fiberglass megayacht does feature a bulbous bow, for better seakeeping and efficiency.
Since the 108-footer (33-meter) is a semi-custom model, the owner personalized the interior with the Ferretti Group’s in-house design department. Accommodations include five staterooms for the owner and his family, along with four cabins for crew. The layout follows what most buyers want these days: a main-deck master and the rest of the accommodations below decks. It’s additionally a pretty traditional North American layout, with the galley on the main deck. This makes serving the dining area, directly aft, easier.
The four-deck megayacht also has a skylounge, a sundeck with an extra helm station, as well as a tender garage for a primary boat plus another small watertoy.
While the owner anticipates taking that first spin, the Custom Line team has additional big projects on its hands. It’s preparing the brand’s new flagship, the Navetta 42, for her global debut. The yacht will appear at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. She’s the biggest Custom Line to date, at 138 feet (42 meters).
