As much as megayacht LOAs are increasing, not everyone wants a dramatically longer yacht. Sometimes, a “small” size can boast big benefits, especially if you select a catamaran. Echo Yachts is banking on the growth of this market with a new range of custom 27M catamaran motoryachts and shadow vessels.
Located in Australia, Echo Yachts is, of course, best known for building custom multi-hull megayachts, like the shadow vessel Charley and the world’s largest trimaran yacht, White Rabbit. It created a Design Collection, partnering with proven design studios, to jumpstart conversations with clients. The 27M catamaran motoryachts and shadow vessels, measuring 88’6”, join this collection.
Specifically, Echo Yachts teamed with Misha Merzliakov Yacht Design for styling and general arrangement. Naturally, the wide beam of a catamaran form is an attractive element. But so, too, are the sculpted profiles for each project. The two are raised-pilothouse designs, with abundant glass and full walk-around decks as well.
The motoryacht proposal includes a handful of spaces that should please buyers. For instance, a nearly 571-square-foot (50-square-meter) beach club is ideal for lounging and entertaining. It’s conveniently just off a hallway from the guest staterooms, too. This way, friends and family can take quick advantage of changing into their swimsuits and hopping on the watertoys for an afternoon of fun. (Toys like PWCs, SeaBobs, and more stow aft.)
Slightly smaller, but no less expansive, the 538-square-foot (50-square-meter) master suite is an indulgent oasis. Echo Yachts and Misha Merzliakov Yacht Design suggest adding a private den/office to it, which would sit in the port-side hull. All guest staterooms go in the two hulls as well, as do the crew cabins. In addition, you can request an elevator and even wider than typical foyers, to suit physical challenges.
The shadow vessel, meanwhile, offers plenty of options of her own. For instance, you can use her to hold a helicopter, dive gear (along with a decompression chamber), and additional crew or staff cabins. She can even include additional guest staterooms, for tandem trips or cruising independently of the primary yacht. Regardless, Echo Yachts suggests engineering the shadow vessel for 25-knot speeds, for rapid relocation needs.
Construction time for the all-aluminum 27M catamaran motoryachts and shadow vessels should be 18 months. If you’ll be attending this month’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Echo Yachts will be on hand with further details. In the meantime, the builder has further models in the design stage as well. Stay tuned.
