Chartering yachts has its advantages. A frequent charterer who decided to step into ownership has signed a deal with Heesen Yachts. Project Sparta, a 220-footer (67-meter), draws on his experiences along with a concept design from Heesen.
Project Sparta joins a long line of fast-displacement megayachts from the shipyard and Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Specifically, she is a 67M Steel FDHF model. The 1,200-gross-ton yacht should ultimately see a top speed of 16 knots, and good fuel efficiency throughout the entire speed range.
Interestingly, the owner was attracted to Heesen and this overall performance idea because of a concept design from about a year ago. At the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show, the builder revealed a proposal called Project Avanti, additionally in conjunction with Winch Design for styling and interior design. Heesen says this customer was quite attracted to the strong, sporty, yet still elegant profile. While we cannot reveal a full-fledged profile, note the bow shape, as well as the flow of the lines leading back to the transom. In addition, Project Sparta has a raised pilothouse.
In terms of the creature comforts, look for Project Sparta to feature a 16-foot-long (5-meter-long) infinity pool prominently on her aft deck. The entire aft deck is stepped, too, for further visual interest, as well as to create some distinct areas. This should provide a nice view from just inside, in the dining area. Project Sparta reverses the traditional locations of the saloon and dining area. But, the saloon is full beam, so it has advantages of its own.
The stateroom arrangement is certainly advantageous. All four guest staterooms sit forward on the main deck. Furthermore, the two that are fully forward can transform into an enviable VIP suite, due to a sliding wall between them. Speaking of enviable, the owner has a stand-out suite (more like an apartment) on the bridge deck. This deck is a private owner aerie, with two suites and private alfresco spaces. In fact, one suite forward has its own outdoor area, while the other suite just aft leads out to an additional secluded spot, with both seating and dining as options.
All guests, of course, get use of further sunning and seating spaces, on the sundeck. Project Sparta additionally puts a hot tub up here. Yet another hot tub welcomes guests into the wellness area on the lower deck. They can take either the spiral stairs or the glass elevator to reach it, along with a sauna, steam room, and gym. Given the wellness area’s location, toys go in a forward garage, with gull-wing doors.
Project Sparta will see delivery in 2023, with additional accommodations for 15 crew as well as a nanny.
In related news, Heesen has about a dozen other yachts in build at the moment.
