Hatteras is lining up more large motoryacht models. This winter, it will begin construction on hull number one of the M98 Panacera. Offering a versatile interior arrangement, the yacht, the fourth design in the Panacera series, additionally puts a few exterior styling choices in buyers’ hands.
The Panacera series kicked off a few years ago with the M90 Panacera. Smaller models have evolved since then. Interestingly, the newest model came about because owners wanted the same concept as the M90 Panacera in a larger size, according to Ward Setzer, who became Hatteras’ chief product officer earlier this year. Simultaneously, Setzer adds, these same customers didn’t want something as large as the 105 Raised Pilothouse, the biggest project that Hatteras currently offers. Furthermore, the buyers wanted a more powerful engine package, for a cruising-speed boost. Setzer and the Hatteras designers sought additional customer input to pinpoint the proper size to suit the wish list. “Ninety-eight feet was the magic number,” he says.
With a beam of 22’6” (6.86 meters), the M98 Panacera should make an owner’s party of eight plenty comfortable. Setzer believes they’ll particularly like the beach club. “It’s huge for a yacht of this size,” he asserts. It features an L-shape lounge, a bar and barstools, and of course a hydraulic transom door to open it to the anchorage. Alternately, though, customers can carve some space out to add a crew workspace with a small galley, or even another crew cabin.
Speaking of cabins, the standard guest layout has all staterooms below decks. Optionally, the VIP can sit forward on the main deck. For decor, selections include European walnut and sapele mahogany.
Further flexibility comes in styling. The M98 Panacera can be an open-bridge design, an enclosed bridge design, or a partially enclosed-bridge design. Regardless, each launch will have twice the number of ports as the M90 Panacera, accompanied by lower bulwarks to maximize views.
Twin 1,600-hp Caterpillar engines comprise the standard engine package. Both 1,800- and 1,900-hp Caterpillars are optional. So, too, are 1,920-hp and 2,600-hp MTU diesels.
Look for the Hatteras M98 Panacera to hit the water come springtime in 2021.
