The Heesen 5000 all-aluminum FDHF class has a new sistership in the water. Project Electra, a.k.a. YN 19150, launched this weekend, additionally becoming the second hybrid yacht in that series.
Heesen started Project Electra on spec after the success of Home, delivered in 2017 and the first hybrid it built. The 163-foot (49.8-meter) Project Electra therefore can rely on a variety of propulsion options. Using her traditional main diesel engines, for example, she should see cruising speeds between 12 and 15 knots. For extra-quick, get-home power, electric shaft motors, driven by the gensets, kick in with the diesels. This permits an expected 16.3-knot max speed. To save on fuel, though, Project Electra can operate on just the electric shaft motors, for expected performance to 9 knots. (A related benefit: sound levels of just 46 decibels, slightly louder than a babbling brook.) Finally, for long distances, the megayacht can travel between 9 and 12 knots on the main engines but without the gensets engaged. This, too, saves fuel, burning reportedly just 26 gph (98 lph).
With a 29’9” (9.1-meter) beam, Project Electra has contemporary design flair throughout her accommodations for an owner’s party of 12. Heesen partnered with Cristiano Gatto Design to create the decor on spec as well. The design studio selected contrasting and complementing colors, especially for woods. For instance, dark-stained oak covers floors, as well as window mullions, while paler stained woods serve as cabinetry and wall paneling. In addition, Cristiano Gatto Design incorporated flowing curves to characterize furniture as well as some of the wall accents, as seen above in the skylounge.
From the five guest staterooms (including a full-beam VIP) to the main-deck master and the sauna and gym accessible to all, Project Electra promises a future buyer pleasant days on the water. Set for completion in April, she’s available for €34.9 million (about 38.6 million at press time).
