There’s a tendency to believe that the larger the yacht, the more opulent the spaces. The newest Framura, for a three-time customer of Codecasa, proves this doesn’t have to be the case. In having his designer work with the shipyard’s own interior-design team, he has created an unassuming, subtly sophisticated ambience.
Measuring 180 feet (55 meters), the newest Framura is the largest of the owner’s Codecasa projects. For instance, in 2013, he took delivery of a 164-footer (50-meter). And, three years before that, he took delivery of a 149-footer (45.5-meter). This particular project launched last summer, with an impressive volume of 720 gross tons. In fact, this is far more voluminous than any of the prior yachts.
Despite the significant step up in volume, the newest Framura remains as understated outside as she is inside. The owner specifically requested a more classic, even somewhat conservative profile. Codecasa’s in-house naval architecture and design departments penned the lines. (The megayacht is part of the Codecasa 55 series.) Similarly, the yacht has a more traditional pace, a reported top speed of 17 knots and a cruise speed of 12 knots. Twin Caterpillar diesel engines, further a traditional choice, should lend her a cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles.
The moment the owner or guests (10 can join him for journeys) step inside, the sensation is that the worries of the world are melting away. It’s hard not to relax, or to get much more traditional for that matter, than in an atmosphere of pale wood soles and white walls. A number of furnishings are white, too, lending a crisp, clean feel. Restrained elegance comes from the fabrics and other soft goods, as well as the artwork.
Enjoy the look around this four-deck megayacht, run by a captain and crew complement of 13. We take you from two of the guest staterooms straight up to the upper-deck saloon (reachable via an elevator) and outside.
