Flagships stand out for their size most of the time. While the Evo V8 will follow suit for Evo Yachts, she further stands out for her unusual design characteristics. She features quintessential sailing-yacht features within a powerboat form.
The 79-footer is a passion project for an Italian client, a repeat customer of Blu Emme Yachts, the yard behind the brand. Like prior Evo Yachts deliveries, the Evo V8 has an expandable beach area, thanks to fold-down platforms to each side. However, she strikes entirely different ground with other features. Notably, designer Valerio Rivellini brings together what he considers the best parts of the sailing and power experiences. “Motoryacht lovers begin their holiday when they reach their destination, either at anchor off the coast or in port, whereas sailing yacht owners start their holiday right away, as soon as they step onboard,” he notes.
For instance, sailing superyachts often have guest cockpits in proximity to twin helm stations. Besides being practical, these invite interaction between the crew and family, and arguably more enjoyment of the voyage. For the Evo V8, Rivellini has replicated the twin helm stations, port and starboard, on the main deck. Side seating areas join them. These complement the traditional interior wheelhouse and upper deck helm found on essentially every power megayacht.
Additionally, Rivellini has created what you might consider an owner’s cockpit with the above-mentioned beach area. Buyers can request their lower-deck stateroom lead directly out to a lounge area overlooking it, via sliding glass doors. The result: 39 feet (12 meters) of private indoor-outdoor space.
Since the Evo V8 is a customizable series, you have multiple ways to combine the power and sail worlds yourself. The shipyard and design team do, however, automatically include separate stairways for guest and crew traffic between the main and lower decks. Furthermore, the owner of hull number one has chosen three staterooms for a party of seven. A crew cabin for two is onboard, too, with all staterooms below decks. The main deck, meanwhile, becomes more welcoming due to the nearly full-height glass near the dining area being able to lower.
Look for the yacht to debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
