One thousand gross tons of interior volume amid five decks are just two characteristics of the new Sanlorenzo 57 Steel series. Hull number one recently started the build process at the shipyard’s site in La Spezia, Italy.
That tonnage is all the more noteworthy, because it’s double the volume of the Sanlorenzo 52 Steel series, her predecessor. The 52 Steel series, which saw Seven Sins as its first launch four years ago, inspired the lines and a few creature comforts for this new yacht. One of the most readily recognizable, for instance, is the aft-deck pool, with a glass bottom. That glass bottom brings light directly down into the beach club, too. And, the beach club itself is notable, encompassing 1,184 square feet (110 square meters), further featuring three fold-down platforms.
Although they have similarities, the Sanlorenzo 57 Steel and 52 Steel are not identical. In fact, together with Zuccon International Project, the shipyard strove for the new megayacht to have her own features. For example, she has a dedicated bridge deck, for the wheelhouse. This, in turn, allows the upper deck to become instead an owners’ deck. The sleeping area, 581 square feet in total, looks out over a private alfresco area, perfect for morning coffee or enjoying sunsets.
Other unexpected arrangements are onboard, too. Ordinarily, the main deck forward would accommodate the master suite. While it certainly can serve as a second master, it might be more suitable as your Very Important Person accommodations. (Overall, the Sanlorenzo 57 Steel has room for up to six guest staterooms.) The location takes advantage of the 34-foot (10.45-meter_ beam, too. Additionally, the tender garage is in the bow, not forward of the beach club. Sanlorenzo and Zuccon International Project say you can stow tenders up to 24’6” (7.5 meters) here, alongside other watertoys. Finally, for your 12-person crew, a level beneath the lower deck holds the laundry, cold-stores room, and other stowage.
Since the series is semi-custom, clients can arrange interiors as they wish. They can choose diesel-electric propulsion as well. The standard twin Caterpillar package should permit a top end of 16½ knots
