Adding larger, steel-hulled superyachts to its model lineup continues to prove successful for Sanlorenzo. Hull number two of its 62 Steel series has just launched. The ceremony follows a few short months after hull number one saw hand over to her owners. And, in related news, two other steel projects were just signed.
The 62 Steel is about 202 feet (61.5 meters) LOA and spreads her volume of 1,300 gross tons across five decks. Like the first hull in the series, Cloud 9, which premieres at the Monaco Yacht Show this week. beam is also 39 feet (11.9 meters), so a strong emphasis is on comfortable, open, and airy living areas.
One of the airiest is the master suite, 2,314 square feet (215 square meters) on the upper deck. Here, the sleeping space sits forward, facing a glass wall and a private alfresco area. In fact, that alfresco area, for sunning and soaking in a hot tub, is upwards of 1,507 square feet (140 square meters).
Although the shipyard has not specified how many staterooms will be aboard, the 62 Steel offers a choice of five or six total cabins for a party of 12. That entire party can use the beach club at the same time, since it’s big enough and has several zones. For instance, fold-down platforms on three sides let those who want to go swimming or sunning spread out. Then, other guests can sit at the bar area inside, or use the gym or hammam. Additionally, the inside area stays pleasantly light and bright due to the glass bottom of the aft-deck pool right above it.
As mentioned above, Sanlorenzo also signed two other steel-hulled megayacht contracts recently. Both, coincidentally, are for its 57 Steel series (above). They represent hulls three and four. Interestingly, hull number three will feature diesel-electric propulsion. Further noteworthy, and attesting to the attraction of the series, Sanlorenzo hasn’t even delivered hull number one yet. Construction just began earlier this year. Like the larger series, this one emphasizes good volume, 1,050 gross tons, and five decks. A private owners’ deck and healthy-size beach club are onboard, too.
