Soon, up to 12 passengers, along with 18 crewmembers and her captain, will enjoy taking in distant shores from the decks of the Amels 242 Avanti. The megayacht has just seen delivery, departing Damen Yachting’s headquarters in The Netherlands.
During construction, this yacht went by the project name Shadow. She’s the sixth Amels 242 and started construction on spec. Her owner acquired her about a year ago, therefore with her build at a well-advanced stage. However, the owner still had the opportunity to personalize the staterooms and interior configuration. Winch Design coordinated efforts with him. Neither Damen Yachting nor the owner’s team has revealed specifics on the décor or the layout of the various decks. Regardless, the Amels 242 does dedicate a deck to the owners, for privacy and more enjoyment. Between large relaxation spaces inside and a hot tub forward outside, the owner’s deck tends to be a luxurious escape.
This isn’t to say that guests have less-luxurious escapes, however. Traditionally, clients have included three large staterooms for friends and family below decks. They have had a further two VIP suites on the main deck. Considering, like her predecessors, the Amels 242 Avanti has a 41-foot (12.46-meter) beam, this should lend itself well to spacious accommodations.
Something that Damen Yachting can disclose, though, is that this is the first Amels 242 to meet IMO Tier III regulations. Several other Amels deliveries, including smaller-length Limited Editions series projects, comply with those emissions rules, too. Additionally, Avanti has a volume of 1,790 gross tons.
Once the owner and guests arrive at their favorite destinations, we also know that they’ll enjoy plenty of watersports. Specifically, the owner requested that a well-outfitted dive center be onboard. Three tenders and two PWCs are in the toy garage as well.
Jan van Hogerwou, Damen Yachting’s commercial executive, says that building the yacht during the pandemic was “challenging.” But, he adds, the crew and owner’s team provided “outstanding cooperation.”
Avanti, with an ice-blue hull and white superstructure, headed off on her maiden voyage with well wishes for “exciting adventures which lie ahead,” van Hogerwou also says.
