Sarp Yachts set out to bring competitively priced new builds and refits to yachting when it opened its doors several years ago. It also set out to collaborate with internationally renowned designers, and clients seeking something a little different. Hull number one in the Sarp XSR 85 series, Edge, is certainly helping.
Firstly, the yacht, which just premiered at last week’s Cannes Yachting Festival, commands attention with her bold orange livery. It highlights a sporty, play-all-day-outside air. Much of that comes from the elongated, multi-level open aft deck, by Red Yacht Design. Alex G. Clarke of Denison Yachting, who’s been working with Sarp Yachts, says the Sarp XSR 85 Edge “brings a refreshing new style of yacht to the market.” He additionally points to the abundance of glass and carbon fiber in her superstructure.
Secondly, the 78’6” (23.95-meter) carbon fiber composite megayacht features a Fast Displacement Hull Form from Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Primarily, this efficiency-focused hull form is aboard much larger megayachts. The Sarp XSR 85 Edge, with twin 1,000-hp MANs, benefits from a reported top speed of 21 knots and an impressive 1,000-nautical-mile range at 12 knots. She’s therefore capable of cruising farther on a tank of fuel than most similarly sized offerings. Her 5’2” (1.6-meter) draft means plenty of shallows are accessible, too.
Inside, nine guests and four crewmembers have accommodations. Once again, Red Yacht Design put its drawing boards to work. Notably, the master and the VIP suites are each full beam (20’10”, or 6.4 meters). The décor is comfortably casual, with sliding-glass doors to port and starboard opening up the saloon and dining area.
Denison has Edge’s central sales listing, too, at an asking price of €5.45 million ($5.521 million at press time). In the meantime, Sarp Yachts is focusing on new-builds and refits to 262 feet (80 meters), with designs similar to the Sarp 46, its first launch, plus larger XSR series models. They include the XSR 100, 125, and 155, all with family styling.
