Two-hundred eighty feet (85.3 meters) of high performance has launched in Australia. The project known as GlobalFast slipped into the water at Silver Fast this week.
Silver Yachts has earned renown for yachts bearing design by Espen Øino, namely Bold, Dragonfly (formerlySilver Zwei), and Silver Fast. Each delivers spirited performance, too, with GlobalFast expected to hit 23 knots. Notably, Bold served as the starting point for project GlobalFast, with the shipyard initiating construction on spec in 2020 and selling her this past April.
An entirely aluminum megayacht, GlobalFast does feature some characteristics all her own. For instance, Silver Yachts installed magnetic electric motors for bow and stern thruster power. For IMO Tier III emissions compliance, the gensets have additional filtration. The engine package complies with Tier III requirements, too, while preserving speed. The twin MTUs specifically should allow a 4,500-nautical-mile range at a swift 18 knots.
Design-wise, the superyacht has further differences, from both predecessors and similar-size launches. The design and build team chose to soften the strikingly sharp lines that distinguish the aptly named Bold, for one. Additionally, GlobalFast’s aft-most upper deck sits higher than it does aboard her predecessors, permitting an airier alfresco dining area. Inside, every one of the guest staterooms is on the main deck, with direct access to the play- and party-oriented aft deck. In fact, that deck space has a certified helipad, a heli hanger that can double as a disco or cinema, and abundant toy stowage. The toys, which can include multiple RIBs and other tenders, launch via a hefty telescoping crane. Furthermore, the bulwarks to both sides fold down to make launching easier, then can stay down for extra entertainment space.
The owners, meanwhile, enjoy a dedicated deck. GlobalFast gives them a full-beam, 646-square-foot (60-square-meter) suite with an office and private lounge. Silver Fast’s signature Winter Garden—a lounge and dining area with wrap-around glass—sits adjacent. Therefore, it can serve the owners one day, then welcome guests another, thanks to stairs from the main deck instead of through the owners’ other private areas.
Silver Yachts should deliver the yacht within the next few weeks. In the meantime, it continues marketing yet another sharp-shaped design, Silver Edge, to potential customers.
