California dreamin’ is all the sweeter for the Golden State family who recently took delivery of the fully custom Benetti yacht Calex. It might be sweet for you, too, since the superyacht is making her global debut at next week’s Palm Beach International Boat Show.
Signed under the code name Project Fenestra, the yacht lets the family, led by an experienced megayacht buyer, pursue a few passions. Specifically, the family is all about spending time together, fitness, and well-being. Catering to keeping the group together, the yacht has a healthy-size beach club. It’s perfect for the adults to enjoy, sitting at the bar, while the smaller set leaps off the side-opening platform. Another platform aft opens, too, but it flips up rather than the more common downward direction. Regardless, the two opening areas mean the beach club remains comfortable and welcoming all afternoon long.
Also keeping the group together, the 220-foot (67-meter) Benetti yacht Calex has seven staterooms. Twelve of the family members have staterooms on one deck—a.k.a. the guest deck. (On a related note, the guest deck is among six decks in total.) The master suite, meanwhile, benefits from abundant privacy, occupying the upper deck. In fact, it’s a voluminous 1,722 square feet (160 square meters). Of course, when the owners want to take some time out, the suite’s alfresco lounge is an ideal spot. It’s extra private, too, because no one on the deck above it can see this area.
For fitness, besides enjoying swimming off the transom, the owners and family can head up to the sundeck. Here, a well-equipped gym lets them get in a workout. A steam room is here, too, as is a hot tub.
Although the gym and related sundeck amenities also cater to well-being, the owners were further quite mindful of the crew’s well-being. Among the 10 crew cabins, three are doubles, for the captain, first officer, and chief engineer. Likewise, the owners wanted the fit and finish of the crew’s quarters to be on par with those of the guest staterooms.
Visits aboard Calex at the boat show are by appointment only.
