With the summer cruising season in full swing, superyacht builders globally are helping owners and crews cast off their lines. The yacht Lumiere is one of the latest deliveries, departing Moonen Yachts’ headquarters in The Netherlands for the waters of the Mediterranean. In fact, the owners intend to spend this full season onboard there—quite a long way from their home in Australia.
The day has been two years in the making, since they signed the contract in 2022. The yacht Lumiere is their first Moonen but the fifth in the builder’s Martinique series. She therefore belongs to a family of previous deliveries like Botti, Kokoro, and Brigadoon.
Even though all of the Martinique projects, including Lumiere, have the same engineering platform, each set of owners was able to customize a variety of aspects. Among the things the owners of this 124-footer (37.8-meter) wanted was a bigger tender garage and a five-foot-deep (1.5-meter-deep) swim platform. The swim platform further has a folding section. Additionally, they wanted a longer sundeck, along with a larger hot tub.
Nicky Van Zon, Moonen’s technical director, says both owners were intimately involved during customization conversations and construction. Naturally, the interior bears their full personality, too. Although details remain confidential, they collaborated with Studio Indigo for staterooms accommodating 10 family and friends. They’ll be accompanied by six crewmembers and the captain.
Their planned itinerary remains confidential as well, but they have plenty of destinations from which to choose. Being part of the Martinique series means the megayacht can cover 4,000 nautical miles at a 10-knot cruise. “I am certain that Lumiere will provide her owners and guests with a haven of calm and tranquility wherever their journeys take them,” says Van Zon.
In the meantime, Moonen is wrapping up the final details for yet another Martinique, the yacht Moonshine. She’s hull number six in the range.
