Falcon Tenders fields and fulfills requests for a wide variety of custom tenders. Currently, it’s finishing a few boats that you can see for yourself at the Monaco Yacht Show. You’ll want to see them, too, because they include a self-righting SOLAS 660 tender, something brand-new in the megayacht market.
To be clear, self-righting rescue boats—which set themselves upright in the water if they capsize—do exist. Furthermore, some of these rescue boats also conform to SOLAS safety regulations. However, according to Falcon Tenders, so far no luxury tender for a superyacht has this capability. Its SOLAS 660 tender (below) will go aboard the first Damen SeaXplorer 60, a 196-footer (60-meter) seeing delivery this year. As the model name suggests, she’s an adventure-oriented yacht engineered for far northern and southern climes, The owners plan to use the SOLAS 660 tender in some ways like a typical tender, specifically for taking guests to and from shore. Additionally, the tender will support a variety of watersports. Yet another function, the tender will serve as a crew boat for provisioning, transporting luggage, and carrying garbage.
Further at the Monaco Yacht Show, Falcon Tenders will have a “sister” to the SOLAS 660 tender. It’s what Falcon Tenders calls an SX10 Open limousine (below), and the same Damen Yachting customer commissioned it. Though Falcon Tenders is keeping most details close to the vest, it does promise that the boat is a pioneering project for the marketplace.
Regardless, these upcoming deliveries are the latest in what’s been a busy year for the tender maker. Earlier this summer, for example, it delivered a limo tender to the 210-foot (64-meter) Sanlorenzo yacht KD (top). Naturally, the owner wanted the tender to complement the mothership’s design. Therefore, the boat shows off metallic silver painted accents outside and macassar ebony inside. Yet other design details include Fibr8 laser lighting outside, for stunning effect. The tender’s LOA of 32 feet (9.75 meters) makes it the largest limo-style aboard a megayacht in the 210-foot range.
In the meantime, Falcon Tenders has a 29-foot (9-meter) limo tender under construction for delivery next year. She’s for what started as Giorgio Armani’s Admiral yacht, a 236-footer (72-meter). Since the yacht sold earlier this year and still is in build, several design changes are taking place. In turn, that means delivery is now in early 2025.
