So far all of Sunreef Yachts’ catamarans, whether sailing or power, have come from its in-house design team. The shipyard is breaking with that tradition for the flagship of its Ultima series. It’s teamed with Phathom Studio to create the Ultima III yacht, blending sportscar-like lines while still resembling her smaller sisters
Sunreef established the Ultima series for customers enjoying a good turn of speed yet still wanting the smart energy solutions that the yard has long prioritized. Therefore, hybrid propulsion lies below decks, and thin, flexible solar panels—more like a solar skin—cover some exterior surfaces. These solar panels, aboard projects like the 80 Sunreef Power Eco yacht Sól, are the result of research and development by Sunreef Yachts itself.
With the Ultima III yacht, clients get a 108-footer (33 meter) boasting a broad 31’5” (9.6-meter) beam. Naturally, this means extra-expansive areas like the upper-deck lounge and the alfresco area just aft, with a glass hot tub (above). It lends a particularly airy feel to the alfresco dining area and aft-facing lounge on the main aft deck (below). Fold-down platforms flanking the swim platform deck yield even more space, as do deploying balconies on the main deck.
Speaking of the main deck, there’s quite a surprise in store for clients accustomed to the open-plan saloon, dining, and helm. Instead, all of the staterooms, including the master, sit just above the hulls. This not only affords the two forwardmost guest staterooms panoramic views, but also private access from the master to the foredeck. The master suite extends across the full beam, too. Guests can still enjoy the bow, since a two-level seating area is accessible from their stateroom foyer.
With an atrium stairway linking all three levels, the Sunreef Ultima III yacht is extra light and bright. In fact, the design team prioritized ways to avoid artificial lighting—as well as air conditioning. Furthermore, the megayacht makes use of reclaimed fabrics, recycled plastics, and sustainable woods.
Although Sunreef hasn’t revealed full performance figures, anticipate the Ultima III yacht seeing a 20-knot top speed. She should cruise around 12 knots as well. Once at an anchorage, the crew can pop open the tender garage—with an abundance of electric watertoys, of course.
