Having chartered yachts for several years, a couple decided they wanted their own yacht for family travels. Now that the yacht Santosha is in their hands, they’re embarking on the first of what should be many trips together.

The project isn’t just a first for them. In fact, she’s the first in Heesen Yachts’ 57m Aluminum FDHF series. This series prioritizes good performance and simultaneously high volume. Specifically, the hull design (“FDHF” is the fast-displacement hull form the shipyard uses for a lot of its series) allows a reported top end of 22 knots. The lightweight aluminum construction contributes to this as much as the MTU power package. Regular weight calculations ensured that she kept to her relatively shallow-draft design, therefore able to cruise the Bahamas. Additionally, she has an enclosed volume of 780 gross tons.
The interior of the yacht Santosha is quite special, since the owners strove for serenity onboard with Harrison Eidsgaard. Neutral tones are predominant, for instance, though pops of color and modern photography adorn the guest staterooms. Furthermore, custom artwork and carefully chosen pieces throughout the decks lend playful appeal. Arguably most striking is the snake artwork in the master suite. Snakes symbolize rebirth, transformation, and healing.

Due to their charter experience, the owners initially contacted Northrop & Johnson, which in turn introduced them to MCM for project management. Peter Wilson, MCM’s co-founder and their owners’ representative, says the couple’s own “design talent and considerable experience from many other projects” was central to the yacht. “Her success is in no small part due to their intimate involvement throughout,” he adds.
“We are honored to have had the opportunity to build this exceptional yacht for such a wonderful family,” says Niels Vaessen, Heesen’s CEO. Furthermore, he credits MCM with “exceptional coordination throughout this beautiful project” and making the process enjoyable, especially for the owners.

Although she’s heading off on a private maiden voyage, Santosha eventually will open her decks to visitors. She’s debuting at the 2025 edition of the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
