It’s been a little over a year since the owners of the yacht Santosha acquired her, during construction. Their all-aluminum Heesen megayacht reflects a lot of their design input and their goal of enjoying complete contentment onboard. In fact, the name they chose for the yacht conveys that idea. “Santosha” is Sanskrit for contentment. “Contentment is a feeling of mental satisfaction,” explains their representative, Peter Wilson of MWM. They further chose a lotus symbol for the yacht, to remind them to be happy and satisfied regardless of circumstances.
Started as Project Akira in 2021, the yacht attracted the attention of these owners for a few reasons. Firstly, they enjoy cruising the Bahamas, and the 7’5” (2.3-meter) draft would certainly let them continue doing that. Secondly, even though construction was in full swing, they had plenty of time to put their own touches on the interior. With Harrison Eidsgaard, the owners of the yacht Santosha dove into selecting especially sustainable materials like recycled wood. Performance leather and carpeting incorporating art silk (a man-made silk using various reusable materials) are among their choices, too.
Overall, the mood is calming thanks to neutral tones, although of course the owners had some fun as well. Custom artwork and carefully chosen pieces adorn various rooms, for example, all lending playful appeal. Other special touches include woven leather around the TV in the skylounge and curved wallpaper that gleams when the sun hits it. Furthermore, pops of color and modern photography delight the senses in the four guest staterooms below decks.
Perhaps the biggest visual impact, though, is in the master suite. The owners of the yacht Santosha are drawn to the symbolism of the snake. Essentially, it’s their spirit animal. Snakes represent the idea of new beginnings, particularly since they slough off their skin. Similarly, the ideas of rebirth, transformation, and healing come into play. All of this explains why snake artwork is in the 754-square-foot (70-square-meter) master suite.
Yet another aspect of the master suite that makes the owners of the yacht Santosha quite proud is the en suite bath. The design pays homage to the Garden of Eden. Bas relief type of techniques figure prominently in creating it, as white-on-white designs.
“Once delivered, I have no doubt that the clients will enjoy Santosha to her fullest,” asserts Wilson.
