In 2018, Ferretti Yachts set out to restyle its popular flying-bridge offerings, gradually introducing a new family look. The latest, and last, model with the new profile is currently in build. The Ferretti Yachts 800 yacht series boasts not only the new look, but also better spaces than predecessors.
One immediately noticeable styling difference is of course large windows. Optionally, buyers can have a sliding-glass door to starboard, for the saloon. That’s the type of feature more common to bigger megayachts. Additionally evident, the superstructure has a bit of sloping flair aft. It’s a break from the long-traditional parallel lines of prior projects from Ferretti Yachts, plus other flying-bridge builders.
These details come from Filippo Salvetti. “The design of Ferretti Yachts 800 embraces a bold and functional approach that elegantly redefines the distribution of spaces between the main deck, the bridge, and the flybridge,” he says. Speaking of space distribution, the flying bridge encompasses nearly 431 square feet (40 square meters)—this, aboard an 80-foot (25-meter) yacht. Enjoy alfresco dining up here, enjoying the view, and cocktails at the bar (with optional barstools).
Other alfresco areas sure to please include the beach area, with a fold-down settee nestled into the transom, and the glass-lined aft deck. At 161 square feet (15 square meters), the aft deck may feel airier and more ample thanks to the glass bulkhead, sitting aft. Finally, a sunning and seating/observation area on the foredeck is nearly as large as the aft deck.
For the Ferretti Yachts 800 yacht series interiors, Ideaeitalia opened up, quite literally, more space. For example, instead of walling up the galley, the studio has turned it into a more guest-approachable area. Specifically, it’s open to the foyer to starboard and the helm forward. Owners and guests can poke their heads in when coming upstairs for breakfast. A sliding partition further opens the galley to the dining area aft. For the crew’s convenience in provisioning dockside, a side-deck door leads into the galley as well.
Also with all staterooms below decks, the Ferretti Yachts 800 offers two décor packages, Classic and Contemporary. The Classic package features earthy tones, while Contemporary includes sea colors. Throughout the decks, “Our aim with Ferretti Yachts 800 is to breathe life into a boat concept that’s future-forward without sacrificing the brand’s signature refinement,” Ideaeitalia states.
Finally, though some Americans may wish to take the wheel at the helm or on the flying bridge themselves, crew’s quarters are standard. Access to the three cabins is from the port side deck. Regardless of who’s at the helm, speeds will be sporty. As usual, two power packages are available. The standard MANs should allow a 27-knot top end and 15-knot cruising speed. If that’s not enough, opt for the higher-horsepower MANs for an anticipated 31-knot max and 27-knot cruise.
The launch comes on the heels of yet another model in the flying-bridge lineup, the Ferretti Yachts 940. In fact, that project was the builder’s first launch of this year.
