Six months after unveiling its Sportiva series, Tankoa Yachts has its first contract. The 180-foot Tankoa T55 Sportiva is the shipyard’s first contract of 2022, too.
An entirely aluminum megayacht, the Tankoa T55 Sportiva is part of a three-model lineup overall. The other two, the smaller T45 and the larger T65, are still in development. Regardless, all three have styling and interior design by Luca Dini. In fact, Tankoa approached Dini several months ago for fresh ideas to create this new series. Dini delivered with double-angled bow designs, for instance, where the vertical sections provide more interior room and the flared sections deflect green water. Furthermore, and arguably the most notable feature, the megayachts all have a large hull window aft that sits both above and below the sea.
Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa’s sales and marketing manager, particularly calls attention to this feature. “The Sportiva 55 has some design solutions never before seen in a yacht in her class, such as the large window with an ‘under and over the water’ view,” he explains. “Thanks to his experience and skill, Luca Dini has managed to integrate all the best features into a 55-meter yacht while remaining under 500 GT.”
Still on the subject of that window, it sits in the gym just off the beach club. It’s part of a larger spa area as well. The beach club itself, meanwhile, is a reinterpretation of the closed-in space we’ve seen aboard megayachts for many years. Since Dini says clients more and more want open areas aft, the Tankoa T55 Sportiva has a two-level, completely alfresco space. It includes a large, sunken pool and looks and feels connected to the main aft deck (top).
For the interior, the owner wants five guest staterooms below decks and the master suite on the main deck. The master also has its own sauna, plus an alfresco lounging area with a hot tub. So far, no details are available from either the shipyard or Dini as to what materials or overall looks the owner wants for the staterooms and other lounging areas.
Speaking of lounging, the owner and the guests will spend good times on the bridge deck, both day and night. It has sunning areas and seating for enjoying the sights and sun by day. Then, at night, a cinema screen transforms the space.
While the shipyard welds the first pieces of aluminum for this hull, it continues finalizing other megayachts. For example, the craftspeople are building the first T580 and the first T450 projects. Additionally, Tankoa has hull number five in the S501 series underway.
