The Roaring 20s meets the 21st century in many ways aboard the just-launched Benetti FB287 yacht. Her owner, who is keeping his project’s name out of the public eye, requested and received a significant number of custom design details for this series-built superyacht. What’s more, these details go beyond the décor.
The Benetti FB287 yacht is part of Benetti’s 67M B.Now series with the Oasis Deck. It includes the yacht Iryna, which saw delivery last year as hull number one. This semi-custom series features styling by RWD, with a set engineering package. Even though buyers can collaborate extensively with an interior designer of their choice or Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, which conceived the series with the shipyard and RWD, delivery can take place about one-third earlier than a fully custom yacht.
This particular owner relished the opportunity to create an ambience entirely different from what most other owners want currently. First, though, he wanted to ensure some structural aspects to the interior met his needs. For example, wider-than-typical guest hallways were crucial. So, too, were fire doors cloaked in the guise of guest-stateroom doors. There’s actually a physical different out on deck, too: no stairway from the main aft deck to the upper aft deck. Since the owner of the Benetti FB287 yacht has the upper deck as a dedicated apartment, privacy was important.

As for the décor, the owner presented quite a challenge to Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. He’d seen another yacht with glossy, dark woods and deep tones and wanted something similar. It’s the opposite of the seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle characterizing the Benetti B.Now range. To avoid jarring disparity, the studio suggested Gatsby-era design elements in some lighter colors.
To be clear, the Benetti FB287 yacht’s owner and guests are still surrounded by medium to dark woods like ebony, ziricote, wenge, and macassar. Some of these same woods are intricately carved boiserie panels, no simple task for Benetti’s woodworkers. However, lighter woods such as sycamore blend in, as do a mix of marbles. So do metal inserts, a motif throughout the decks. In fact, the owner wanted every space, from saloons to staterooms, to have a united look and feel.
Overall, Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design preserved the indoor-outdoor flow by using complementary colors, materials, and shapes. Inside, oak lies underfoot, with staining and plank widths mirroring the teak decking outside. Overhead, meanwhile, the ceiling materials look similar to the exterior deck overheads.

When guests first step aboard the Benetti FB287 yacht, they’ll surely enjoy the ambience of the saloon, featuring a grand piano. They’ll then have two ways to access the different decks’ amenities, including the lower deck’s spa with a sauna, steam room, and treatment room. They can choose between an elevator—a custom rectangular design meeting the owner’s imagination—or a sculptural marble stairway with a glass balustrade. While the Calacatta marble stair column reflects lighter tones for modern grandeur, the balustrade is a story in itself. Entirely custom and challenging to execute due to its delicate nature, it is simultaneously purposeful and beautiful.
With an extra custom hot tub on the concealed observation deck fully up top to a custom reflecting pool forward on the owner’s deck, the superyacht should see delivery in summertime.
