More and more yacht builders are adding refit divisions in an effort to not only keep their own customers coming back, but also to attract other yacht owners and crew. Reviva Refit is Mengi Yay Yachts’ specialized division, with more than a dozen projects to date.
In fact, the 197-foot (60-meter) yacht Grand Rusalinia has relied on the team for three consecutive winter maintenance programs, dating to 2023. Just wrapping up the third visit, the yacht (above) underwent touch-up painting, engine servicing, interior woodwork repairs and re-varnishing, plus a few technical upgrades.
Given its proximity to the main Med cruising grounds, Reviva Refit is convenient for winter projects such as this. The refit craftspeople and Mengi Yay’s new-build team (which recently delivered the yacht Serenissima II) are all on site in Istanbul. Overall, they comprise upwards of 250 people. The division can handle motoryachts and sailing superyachts to 426 feet (130 meters) LOA, too.
Although Mengi Yay officially announced Reviva Refit last year, it has been performing refits since 2015. Initially, six of the first seven projects during the first five years were for Mengi Yay clients. Several further Mengi Yay customers have taken advantage of the service, but so have owners from other yards. Grand Russalina, for instance, is a Trinity Yachts delivery from 2008—and the largest refit project so far. Owners with yachts from Sunseeker and Princess Yachts have come in for a variety of needs as well.
Additionally, the refit division works with several of the same designers that the new-build team does. Namely, Ginton Naval Architects, Van Oossanen Naval Architects, Nuvolari-Lenard, and VYD Studio are among them.
