You’re looking at the aluminum hull for what will eventually be a 222-foot (68-meter) classically styled ketch. Coming in at 113 tons, the hull of the mostly-confidential Vitters yacht Project 3095 flipped last week.
As is tradition across yachting, hull construction takes place upside down at Vitters’ Dutch shipyard. This makes the welding process easier, especially for super-large superyachts like this one. Simultaneously, it’s more practical for large components to lift into place. Craftspeople then need to move the hull from the initial construction shed and turn it right-side up with the assistance of cranes.

The keel laying for Project 3095 occurred just shy of a year ago. Few details remain available. For instance, the owner selected Hoek Design to handle not only styling, but also naval architecture. A ketch, she follows in the footsteps of a handful of collaborations between Hoek Design and Vitters. In fact, the yacht Meraki, a world traveler, is the most recent, from 2020. Further joint projects include the 20-year-old, 179-foot (55-meter) ketch Adèle. Additionally, Project 3095 will have a Panamax-height mast so that she can pass under the Bridge of The Americas in the Panama Canal.
For maneuvering in and out of harbors, though, a diesel-electric propulsion system will be aboard. A permanent magnet electric motor will handle the maneuvers, plus recharge the battery bank when needed.

Furthermore, the Vitters yacht Project 3095 will have three deckhouses. Naturally, wood cladding will highlight her classic lines. The forwardmost portion of the yacht will be for crew, while the owner and guests will have accommodations and leisure areas aft. They’ll be able to enjoy the sights and salt air underway while seated in the central cockpit. Although décor information under wraps, the renowned designer Bunny Williams of Williams Lawrence (previously Bunny Williams Interior Design) is fulfilling the requests of the owner. Williams has spent nearly the last four decades specializing in timeless looks.
Delivery remains on schedule for next summer.

In related news, the outfitting shed where Project 3095 now sits is entirely new. On May 24, the children of Vitters employees had the honor of inaugurating it. It’s 262 feet long by 98 feet wide (80 meters by 30 meters).
