Weeks after her official christening in The Netherlands, the yacht QU2 is in her owners’ hands. Her first ports of call will be in the Mediterranean, a contrast yet complement to the décor throughout her decks.
Hull number nine in the Amels 60 series, which debuted in 2022, the yacht QU2 is easy to recognize on the horizon thanks to trapezoidal windows. They’re a defining feature of all of the deliveries to date in the series, springing from Espen Øino’s design studio. Yet another defining feature of the series is the 95-foot-long (29-meter-long sundeck). That’s nearly half of her overall 197 feet (60 meters) from bow to stern.
Throughout her decks, the yacht QU2 has accommodations for 12 in the owners’ party or a charter party. In fact, she’s already booking charters for the Western Med this summer, with her weekly rate beginning at €620,000 (about $727,550 at press time). Several of her leisure spaces should hold strong appeal among charter guests—and stand out from the other Mediterranean options.

For instance, and of most significance, the superyacht has a calming, barefoot luxury character from room to room. With Winch Design, the owners created an island retreat reminiscent of Pacific atolls. From the four guest staterooms below decks to the bridge-deck lounge, soothing sea colors and natural materials are prominent. So, too, are accents like carved wood. Equally noteworthy—and creating the most visual interest—the colors change from deck to deck. On the lower deck, the tones replicate golden sand. The main deck is all about ocean blues. This includes everything from the saloon to the master suite and the adjacent VIP stateroom. Things change on the bridge deck, to tropical greens. Even so, the colors never overwhelm or detract from a relaxing experience.
Relaxing aboard the yacht QU2 won’t be hard, either. The beach club is a good example. It has a bar with wide-backed barstools, perfect for mid-afternoon cocktails or sundowners. When the transom is opened, the crew can add lounge chairs and umbrellas on the swim platform, extending the beach club. The beach club further has a glass-walled sauna.
Just before the yacht QU2 left the shipyard, Rob Luijendijk, Damen Yachting’s commercial director, reflected on her design. He especially noted how she’s truly personalized yet also prioritizes making charter guests feel welcome. Additionally, he noted how the crew’s needs received priority. “As she departs, we wish her fair winds, following seas, and many memorable voyages ahead,” he says.
