Jongert, which suspended operations in May, is under new ownership, according to a report this morning in Holland.
The Web site vraagenaanbod.nl states that VeKa Group, a Dutch company specializing in shipping since 1988, acquired the yacht builder as part of a consortium. No price was disclosed.
Peter Versluis, the director of VeKa Group, was quoted as saying, “The VeKa Group have recently made a well-considered choice to take over Jongert in Wieringerwerf dockyard with a number of partners.” The other partners were not named in the article.
No information is posted on VeKa Group’s Web site as of yet. And Jongert’s site, which as of a few days ago indicated news would be coming soon, is apparently shut down. But the yard did receive an injection of capital last year by the investment company Value Enhancement Partners, which took over majority interest in Jongert last fall.
I’ll update as more news becomes available.
