An experienced yacht owner will soon enjoy the maiden voyage of the Lürssen Solemates, a 60-meter (197-foot). Delivery is set for the end of July, after which the yacht will cruise the Med. The photo here was taken during sea trials last week.
With styling by Espen Oeino and interior design by Glade Johnson Design, Solemates went by a project name, Katie Sue II, during construction. She bears a family resemblance to Linda Lou and Arkley outside. Inside, of course, the owner aimed for full personalization. Johnson imparted contemporary flair, a style for which he’s well known.
Full details about Solemates have been under a publicity embargo for some time. However, the yard has revealed a handful of facts. For instance, dining areas and saloons provide plenty of elbow room–as they should, given the 11.47-meter, or nearly 38-foot, beam. Additionally, the sundeck serves as a multi-function space. If the owners or their guests want to work out, wind-protection screens flank an area amidships. Yet another example, with alfresco dining and sunning can alternate aft. Come nightfall, meanwhile, the crew can push aside lounge chairs and transform the deck into a dance floor. Disco lighting and a kickin’ sound system should keep the party going. Guests can later retire to four staterooms below decks or a fifth stateroom aft of the wheelhouse.
The Lürssen Solemates will be on display at this September’s Monaco Yacht Show. Incidentally, if you’re wondering where the yacht’s name came from, the owner is in the shoe business.
