With a variety of common areas and private spaces suiting multiple members of a family, the yacht Solemates officially is showing off her nameboard. Her christening and launch ceremony took place in recent days at Heesen Yachts.
Solemates is the latest member of the Heesen 55M Steel series. The owners acquired the yacht, started on spec as Project Venus, last summer. At the time, this was the only 180-foot (55-meter) steel-hulled superyacht for sale from a Northern European shipyard. However, the owners are also previous clients, so they were familiar with the yard’s abilities. In fact, they took delivery of a same-named superyacht from Heesen in 2020. According to the owners’ representative, Rupert Connor of Luxury Yacht Group, “The construction process with this Dutch shipyard was, once again, a pleasure.” He adds, “Their project team enthusiastically embraced our requests.”

Heesen’s project team includes its own interiors division, which custom makes many furnishings and other special items for clients. The Luca Dini Design studio had already created an interior vision for the project when the owners signed the contract. They liked the overarching idea of the décor, which called for bold color accents and multiple finishes for striking effects. Of course, they wanted to ensure that the look and feel suited their family focus. They especially have been working closely with Silvia Margutti of Luca Dini Design to translate their wishes to reality.
While Margutti is still finishing last touches, the yacht Solemates does assert her own personality through greens, teals, and soft aqua blues. Several rooms are special to the owners, too. Particularly, the upper-deck saloon will host several family get-togethers. Outside as well, it’s important to the owners that multiple family members can spend time together. Therefore, the sundeck is one of them, featuring a hot tub with an adjacent bar, plus big seating areas.

Even so-called transition spaces were important for the family. The main stairway connecting the decks needed to be a visual delight. Gold flakes and crystals sit embedded in acrylic panels as it flows through the decks.
Sea trials should start in the coming weeks. Delivery is set for the springtime. Following the family’s own travels, visitors to September’s Monaco Yacht Show will have a chance to book a tour. Solemates also will be on display at the Palm Beach show in 2026.
