More creative proposals are coming out of the sailing arena these days. The latest is this 100-meter (328-foot) project from the pairing of Design Unlimited and Reichel Pugh Yacht Design.
More than just a pretty face, the megayacht is meant to outpace pretty much any other sailing yacht, as well as many motoryachts. So how fast will she be? Try a top speed expected to exceed 20 knots. That should make the superyacht sailing regattas a bit more exciting to watch if an owner commissions her. (She’s being being marketed exclusively by YCO.) The Reichel Pugh Unlimited 100, as the design is called, calls for an aluminum hull and fiberglass superstructure, which should also aid performance by saving weight.
For entertaining, dining, and relaxing, the yacht has capacious alfresco areas. In fact, there appear to be more outdoor spaces than several other sailing yachts. There’s a particularly nice beach club at her transom, a feature found nearly exclusively aboard motoryachts these days. The location of the tender garages is also unexpected: far forward to each side.
As for the interior, the 14.49-meter (47-foot) beam should ensure the seven guest staterooms and the owners’ suite are comfortably sized. Two of the guest staterooms have twin beds, four have doubles, and the remaining stateroom is a VIP. These, plus a cinema, a circular central lobby with spiral staircase, lounges, and crew accommodations for 12 are spread over three decks, with an emphasis on natural light as much as possible.
