Fourteen years after Sunseeker began designing megayachts in excess of 100 feet, it’s building its largest megayacht to date, the 155 Yacht.
The 155 Yacht will surpass the Sunseeker 40 Metre Yacht as the flagship of the fleet. In fact, Sunseeker says she’ll have 40 percent more interior volume. More noteworthy, however, is the fact that the 155 Yacht will be as close to a fully custom yacht as the British builder has offered so far. Rather than just let owners design the interior, Sunseeker will also allow them a say in the superstructure styling.
Regardless of what they do decide to design, owners will enjoy knowing the Sunseeker 155 Yacht should be no slouch in the performance department. Sunseeker estimates a 26-knot top end. At a somewhat slower cruise speed, range should be 4,500 nautical miles. Though Sunseeker does not specify the engine package, it’s a safe bet MTUs will be installed, based on other megayacht models in its lineup. In addition, the 155 Yacht will feature Sunseeker’s first semi-displacement, round-bilge, and long-keel hull form.
Other features of the trideck design, set for launch in 2014, are balconies on the main deck. There’s a fold-down one off the saloon, while a fixed, alcove-like area is forward off the master suite. Even without stepping onto them, the owner and guests should enjoy the feel inside, as the beam is set for 30’10” (9.4 meters).
Sunseeker is also including a beach club at the transom. When the transom folds down, loose furnishings can be set up on the platform, or it can be used as a boarding/disembarking point for the tenders and watertoys. (The toy garage lies just foward of here, with the boat positioned athwartships.)
The 12 people in the owner’s party will also have a good-size sundeck—what Sunseeker terms the skydeck—at their disposal. A pool will be situated fully forward, ideal for enjoying the views. Stewardesses working the bar immediately aft can supply them or anyone lounging on the fully aft seats with drinks and snacks. A total of 10 crewmembers will be onboard.
The Sunseeker 155 Yacht will be classed to RINA and meet MCA LY2 requirements, coming in at just under 500 gross tons. For more details directly from Sunseeker, fill out our contact form.
