Oceanco DP028, code-named Primadonna, is the newest concept project from the Dutch builder. She was created with styling by Hot Lab Yacht & Design. Although she’ll be formally presented at Oceanco’s stand during the Monaco Yacht Show, both builder and stylist are revealing a sneak peek now.
The 361-foot (110-meter) Primadonna employs a hull design and overall engineering by Oceanco’s in-house team. BMT Nigel Gee has contributed as well. Beam is a healthy 59 feet (18 meters). Her sizable dimensions are in keeping with the focus that Oceanco has on the 262-foot-plus (80-meter-plus) market.
Primadonna avoids the problems of other massive megayachts, that being having an overwhelming presence. To be clear, Oceanco and Hot Lab made the most of her length. However, Primadonna does not simply tower, nor look bulky. Her shapely lines, particularly aft, lend a sleekness. So, too, do the full-height windows on multiple decks. Note as well the breaks forward in the superstructure, extending from the upper deck down one level. (That level is the owner’s private deck, directly accessible from the helipad.) Hot Lab describes the breaks as arches. They’re difficult to discern from these images. Regardless, they’re sleights of hand. Hot Lab wanted Primadonna to give the illusion of having one big, open deck area. The arches are, in reality, large glass panels that brighten the owner’s suite.
The interior design and general arrangement are open to a buyer’s input. Hot Lab and Oceanco do have suggestions that certainly will be taken into consideration. They include features many megayacht owners want these days, with some creative twists. For example, Primadonna can feature a big pool on her aft main deck. No mere pool, it’s part waterfall. The water spills over the back edge, down into a hot tub one deck down. Sliding glass panels surround that hot tub, for all-season use.
A total of 18 people between the owners and guests can also enjoy a beach club aboard Primadonna. It’s tucked just forward of the hot tub, beneath the pool above. Hot Lab has specified opening hatches to port and starboard, for an airy feel. (On a side note, our edit staff likes how this is a more private arrangement than most beach clubs. While not for every owner, it should definitely appeal to ones who don’t like the sensation of being fully out in the open.) More intimate airy appeal comes courtesy of balconies off four of the guest suites, too.
For other gatherings, Primadonna can be outfitted with a lounge and bar. Naturally, she’ll boast panoramic views from here. The uppermost deck is ideal for the duo. The same deck can include an open-air gym and yet another hot tub.
Given Primadonna’s dimensions and guest capacity, 40 crewmembers and staff can be accommodated. She’ll meet Lloyd’s classification and be powered by quadruple diesels, for a top end approaching 19 knots.
