This 197-footer (60-meter) is the largest megayacht to join the new Mondo Marine SF Line, a series that has seen one contract signed so far. She’s called the SF60, and she’s being promoted at this week’s Dubai International Boat Show. However, the SF60 may garner interest from clients farther afield, too.
First, a little background. The SF Line is comprised of all-aluminum megayachts intended to embrace current trends in aesthetics. Features include thoroughly modern lines, abundant natural light inside, and flowing spaces both inside and out on deck. The SF Line was developed with two companies. One is Luca Vallebona, responsible for styling and interior design. The other, and the primary driver behind the SF Line, is Dubai-based SF Yachts. It provides brokerage, management, and consultancy services, plus represents Mondo Marine in the Middle East. The “entry-level” SF Line model is the SF30, measuring 107 feet (32.7 meters). The first to be signed, and currently in build, is an SF40. LOA is 136 feet (41.5 meters).
The Mondo Marine SF60 is to some degree a larger version of these two models, with a beam of 33 feet (10.1 meters). She carries on the concept of bringing a twist to traditional interior and exterior arrangements. For one, three of the five guest staterooms are on the main deck, forward of the saloon and formal dining area. This is due to the galley being below deck. The latter is an arrangement more in line with Middle Eastern preferences (keeping cooking odors away from relaxation areas). Regardless, each of the three main-deck guest staterooms aboard the SF60 will have distinct decor schemes.
Then there’s the upper-deck, full-beam owners’ suite. It occupies all of the real estate aft of the captain’s cabin and adjacent crew stairs/service area. The owners get a private saloon that rivals the size of the main saloon one deck down. Of course, there are also fold-down balconies in the owners’ suite, to each side of the sleeping area.
Outside, the SF60 has a feature that Mondo Marine calls a “sofa island” on the main aft deck. It’s a lounge in the midst of a pool. Another pool, infinity-style, is forward on the uppermost deck, with a handy day head a few paces away. A touch-and-go helipad makes arriving and departing the SF60 a breeze when she’s anchored out. The draft of 9’5” (2.9 meters) won’t post a problem at a variety of marinas globally, however.
The crew’s concerns haven’t been left out of the equation. The above-mentioned crew stairs extend throughout the yacht, all the way down to the under lower deck and its stowage and equipment spaces.
In terms of the SF60’s performance, Mondo Marine offers two propulsion packages. The standard twin MTU 16V2000 M84 diesels should allow an 18-knot top end. Optional MTU 12V 4000 M93Ls add another 2 to 3 knots to that. Either way, the SF60 should see a best range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
The Mondo Marine SF60 should boast an international gross tonnage of nearly 900. She’ll be built to Lloyd’s classification, too.
