Personal concierges are worth their weight in gold to their clients. They’re skilled at securing dinner reservations at cream-of-the-crop restaurants, exclusive personal tours of museums, and more. As helpful as they are, though, personal concierges make arrangements for you to go somewhere else.
So, what if these elite experiences were brought directly to you instead? What if a top chef were personally selected to cook for you aboard your superyacht—or at your hotel or home, even aboard your jet? And what if a marine biologist could take you and your guests diving in some of the most remote places, to see and learn things most people don’t? These are just two of the many luxury-lifestyle services being provided by Life Butler International.
Life Butler International was created by Alexis Vincent (right), who’s well known in yachting. He’s the founder and owner of Dive Butler International, the rendezvous diving company that regularly sends dive masters to accompany superyacht guests on trips around the world. Prior to establishing Dive Butler, Vincent ran the dive center at a luxury resort in the Maldives, where he met Claire Way, now general manager at Life Butler International. “We wanted to extend the range of services,” Way says about Life Butler. “It’s about the people, the quality.” Put another way, it’s “focused on expanding guests’ personal horizons,” she adds, “to take the experience to a different level.”
Here’s how it works. Life Butler International is staffed by (you guessed it) life butlers. Each is well versed in the fields of well being, culinary, diving, sports and adventure, and travel. Staff deemed head butlers serve as your initial points of contact. A head butler consults with you to learn what you’re interested in, then recommends one or multiple life butlers to fulfill your desires. The life butler then heads out to where you’ll be, at a time convenient for you. Picture a Pilates instructor leading you through moves on your yacht’s sundeck. A chef who not only understands raw-food diets, but practices them himself. A travel companion who will help you navigate local customs, even take you on a biking adventure through mountainous terrain.
Rather than keep a virtual wall between you and the life butlers, Life Butler International allows you to read biographies about a few of them on its website. This way you can learn more about their backgrounds and hear, in their own words, why they’re passionate about what they do. While not every life butler is listed, there are about 30 so far, Way says, spread throughout the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and more.
