Filippetti Yacht and Hot Lab Yacht & Design have quite an unusual client on their hands. He’s commissioned a Filippetti Navetta 26 to cruise northern European waters full time. And, he wants to do so with the wheel in his hands on many occasions.
Because Filippetti Yacht permits customization, this owner made a number of special requests. Warmth in interior spaces was key. Filippetti Yacht insulated the signature large ports, via a proven technique of double-paned glass with gas between the two. Because the Navetta 26 will cruise some particularly chilly areas, an oil-driven furnace can heat the interior. It can also do so well before he steps aboard, via his mobile device. (On a related side note, the furnace is made by the Dutch company Kabola. The firm supplies oil- and diesel-driven systems to yachts and other transportation clients.)
Another request was an unusual interior configuration. This Filippetti Navetta 26 has the dining area fully forward on the main deck, rimmed with ports. This replaces the typical general arrangement of having the master suite fully forward. Similarly unusual, just two staterooms—the master and the VIP—are for the owner and guests, both below decks. As you can imagine, each is capacious. The master suite aboard this Filippetti Navetta 26 contains an en suite bath the size of a guest stateroom. Truly: It occupies the floor space that a guest cabin normally would. This, in addition to a walk-in wardrobe and a private gym.
Even with two crewmembers housed aboard, the owner takes great pleasure in driving and docking. His Filippetti Navetta 26 therefore has four control stations (two forward, two aft, all on the main deck) complementing the dedicated wheelhouse. Furthermore, the megayacht’s autopilot can be engaged remotely, via a mobile device. With the yacht’s range anticipated to exceed 3,000 nautical miles, powered by 730-hp MANs, all of these extra tools should get plenty of use.
One final special request: an enclosed flying bridge. Most Filippetti buyers like the open-air nature of the deck area aft of the wheelhouse. This owner does, too. But, but his cruising itinerary necessitates a good compromise. The enclosed flying bridge is more like a skylounge, with a dining area, bar, and small galley. It also has sliding glass doors aft that can open when temperatures rise a bit. Another nice touch here: a skylight.
Hot Lab Yacht & Design worked with Filippetti on the styling and is executing the interior vision, too. American walnut paneling will mix with lacquered surfaces, plus leathers and marbles.
